Sharp Lands
by Leif J. Lee, MFA VS ’15

Leif J. Lee is an interdisciplinary artist and MFA Visual Studies candidate at Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon. Lee’s work investigates the body’s presence in the contemporary landscape: a machine made land that follows pointed rules and regulations based on commercialism, economy, and technology. Lee uses bright colors, repetitive pattern, sharp corners, and soft cotton to illustrate the impact modernity impales into the human body. This collision creates exhaustion, sharp pains, and disorientation. This current body of work explores puzzles, dystopian fantasy, naive hypnotic pattern, and a mysterious quest for comfort in our sharp lands.

Opening reception Thursday, December 12th, from 6-9pm
