The Low-Residency MFA in Visual Studies welcomes Wendy Given for a discussion of her work as part of the 2015 Summer Graduate Visiting Artist Lecture Series.
Wendy Given was born in 1971 and is an American artist living and working in Portland, Oregon. Given studied fine art and was trained in painting, printmaking, photography and sculpture during her BFA undergraduate work at Atlanta College of Art in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her MFA from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, California. Given has exhibited both nationally and internationally at venues including the Vincent Price Art Museum in Monterey Park, California; Tacoma Art Museum, Tacoma, Washington; Chelsea Art Museum, New York, New York; Fototropía in Guatemala City, Guatemala; Fifth Floor, Los Angeles, California; The Art Gym at Marylhurst University, Marylhurst, Oregon; Indiana University IUPUI, Indianapolis, Indiana; Humble Arts Foundation, New York, New York; Kasher | Potamkin, New York, New York; Hap Gallery, Portland, Oregon; University of Tennessee Downtown Gallery, Knoxville, Tennessee; whitespace, Atlanta, Georgia and Wieden+Kennedy Gallery, Portland, Oregon. Given has also been awarded residencies with Signal Fire, Portland, Oregon; Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency, California; and at Caldera Arts, Sisters, Oregon.
