Please join the Print Media MFA program, visiting artists Melanie Cervantes and Jesus Barraza of Dignidad Rebelde, and Portland’s Critical Resistance for a community print event where we will collaboratively screen print artwork designed to draw attention to Critical Resistance’s campaign for “Mental Health Care, Not Policing”.
This event will bring together local social justice activists, community members, Print Media students and visiting artists Melanie Cervantes and Jesus Barraza of the Dignidad Rebelde art collective for a night of collaborative silkscreen printing and community building. All are welcome! No printing experience necessary.
As part of Print Media’s collaboration with Dignidad Rebelde, our WATERSHED Fine Art Publishing program will release a print edition honoring writer James Baldwin, who is the subject of the powerful new documentary, “I Am Not Your Negro”.
About Dignidad Rebelde: “We believe that art can be an empowering reflection of community struggles, dreams and visions. Following principles of Xicanisma and Zapatismo, we create work that amplifies people’s stories and to create art that can be put back into the hands of the communities who inspire it.” -Melanie Cervantes + Jesus Barraza, Dignidad Rebelde
