I pass unto you is an exhibition of new works by Madeleine Barbier and Angela Saenz.

Opening Reception: Thursday August 3rd 6-8 PM

She couldn’t help but imagine a world that was enveloped in water. It became a sort of obsessive vision. And so it was: You and I became the arbiters of information, passing on the holy text and images that inform this new epoch, this imagined world of water, this hydro-cene.

Madeleine Barbier is an artist based out of Portland, Oregon, originally from the central coast of California. Barbier’s work involves the creation of imagined realms that are often expressed through text based pieces, calling upon recurring symbols and the flexibility of language. Barbier allows her pieces to flow into and out of her own worlds of thought, offering hints to an often shrouded landscape of intricately woven fictions.

Angela Saenz is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Portland, OR. The artist works primarily with painting, printmaking, mold-making and text in conjunction with installation. Through the labor of process Saenz internalizes and reconnects parts of the natural world, the domestic sphere, and the individuals she chooses to represent. Currently her work is a synthesis of the representational image, objects and language.
