MFA in Visual Studies is excited to welcome Sarah Abu Abdallah for a lecture at PNCA in collaboration PICA and the TBA Festival.

Sarah Abu Abdallah lives and works in Qatif, Saudi Arabia. She studied art at the Rhode Island School of Design and the College of Art and Design at the University of Sharjah. She is currently an artist and puzzlemaker working with video, installation, poetry and images. She has shown work in the Sharjah Biennial 11; Serpentine Galleries Marathons; Fluidity in Kunstverein in Hamburg; Co-Workers in Mus.e d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Do it Arabic; Prospectif Bubble in Centre Pompidou and Luma Foundation; Private Settings in Warsaw Museum of Modern Art; Arab Contemporary in Louisiana Museum of Modern Art; Rhizoma in the 55th Venice Biennale, amongst others. She is the recipient of Sharjah Art Foundation’s production program grant (2016) in collaboration with Josh Bitelli for their project To Gaze at Ten Suns Shining and is a shortlisted artist for Abraaj Group Art Prize 2017. AbuAbdallah was a Spring 2017 Creative Exchange Lab resident at the Portland Insitute for Contemporary Art.

Visiting artists and curators enrich PNCA’s MFA in Visual Studies, a multidisciplinary, mentor-based program that encourages independent inquiry and supports critical approaches to the production of visual art. Grounded in one-on-one mentorships, the program is enhanced by exhibition opportunities, seminars, residencies, and national and international travel.
