The note that Churchill wrote on many a memo, “Action This Day,” provided the title of David Ritchie’s fifth play, a comedy that runs about an hour. In a readers’ theater performance (blocked, but with scripts in hand) Joe Costa and David Fuks will reprise their roles as Churchill and Eisenhower. The scene is an old barn near the Gettysburg battlefield, Spring of 1962. Churchill has an elaborate scheme which, like many of his plans, doesn’t come off as intended. He has bought Eisenhower a gift— one of only four extant Confederate half dollars. He intends to hand it over during the course of a day they’ve agreed to spend painting together, but when he hears that the barn dates back to the Civil War he thinks it might be more fun for Ike to “discover” the coin. Doors open at 7:30 pm for an 8:00 pm performance on Friday, November 17. $10 admission. Free admission for students.
