Britt Humphrey Mothers Milk: in the Land of Milk and Honey Holt Gallery Opening reception July 5, 6pm
A newborn’s existence is completely dependent upon, in most cases, its parents - for feeding, sanitation, and comfort. These daily rhythms of parenthood are a shared universal experience regardless of race or gender. Mother’s Milk speaks to the “Breast is Best” movement, birds and bees metaphor, and the idea of life under a microscope; through painting, sculpture, and collage, one is welcomed into the open arms of the pain and joys that encompass the first months of human life.
