The Space Between Us Connection through Courageous Conversations & Listening
Opening Reception: Friday, 12/14, 6-8pm PNCA Mezzanine Collaborative Design/Design Systems
In a society that is increasingly polarized, The Space Between Us examines the broadening social gaps that emerge from this climate.
This exhibit starts with acknowledging the dangers these gaps pose to the lives of all people, especially those marginalized by its effects—isolation, polarization, barriers, ignorance, bias, prejudice, and hate.
We have gathered stories, processes, tactics, and methodologies from individuals and organizations in our community who propose an antidote. By highlighting the capacity of engaged & courageous conversation, empathetic listening, and sharing experiences, we strive to create an intentional space for building community and connection.
We hope to encourage an ongoing practice of learning and challenging oneself in order to foster growth mindsets. The Space Between Us is an extension of our participatory installation, Cards for Humanity, which asked people to share responses that open conversations and break down barriers.
