Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) is proud to be the new Regional Affiliate Partner the Scholastic Art Awards, the nation’s most important awards program for creative high school students. This is a natural extension of PNCA’s longtime involvement in the awards, having hosted the annual Scholastic Gold Key Exhibition every year since 2000.
The Portland Metro Scholastic Art Awards are part of a national project that encourages, fosters, and rewards creativity in our nation’s classrooms, and provides an avenue for young artists and writers to receive recognition for their creative achievements. Started more than 75 years ago, it is the largest and longest running recognition program of its kind in the nation. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is a remarkable celebration of young and talented students of the arts at the middle and high school levels. The Scholastic Art Awards Exhibition features Gold Key award winning work from 7th- to 12th-grade students in the Clackamas, Washington, and Multnomah counties. Gold Key work moves on to the National level in competition with Gold Key work from other states. Last year the state of Oregon received the third most Gold Medals at the National level.
Reception for all participants: Thursday, February 7, 5:30 – 8pm. The 2019 awards ceremony exhibition of the award winning works will take place at Pacific Northwest College of Art on Thursday February 7, 2019 6-7pm. The exhibition will be on view February 7-22, 2019.
