Oct 21 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
Derrick C. Lee and Anthony J. Coleman are both New Yorkers driven by culture who have worked with some of the most iconic brands and agencies in the world. Now living and designing in Portland, Oregon—with Jordan Brand and Nike, respectively—they’ll be zooming in for our Design Panel Series in conversation with students, faculty, and friends.
Wednesday, 10/21, 12:30pm PST FREE and open to all!
Derrick Lee brings a decade of experience from the design industry. He is currently creating groundbreaking designs as the North American Design Director for Jordan Brand. Previously, he has held other positions within Branding, Art Direction, Illustration and Creative Strategy. Some of Lee’s iconic clients include Coach, New Balance, Target, and Virgin Mobile. When he’s not creating work or taking care of his two little boys, he is dedicated to pursuing his passion for photography, sports, and music.
Anthony Coleman is a culture maven and creative visionary currently working as Design Director / Art Direction for Performance at Nike. Coleman also does Art direction, Brand Strategy, Editorial Design, and Brand Identity. His credits can be seen on major brands such as Nike, Adidas, Apple, and Lululemon. Coleman’s inspiration from culture and personal experiences can be felt in See in Black, a highly-curated sale of prints from black photographers. His, and along with other artists’, mission there is to raise funds that support five key pillars of Black advancement: civil rights, education/arts, intersectionality, community building, and criminal justice reform.
Hosted by the BFA Graphic Design program at Pacific Northwest college of Art since 2016, the Design Lecture Series welcomes designers from all over the world to share their work and what moves them. The fall 2020 evolution of our series will take advantage of the potential for more interaction across our distances by hosting panel discussions in place of traditional lectures. As a way to open our doors and minds to the broad and vibrant possibilities in design, panels will be driven by current students in conversation with a diverse set of fascinating creative folks who break expectations of what design can be and do in the world today.
