Dan Seward, also known as Bunnybrains, is a musician, curator and promoter in Hudson, New York, where he runs the celebrated (and somewhat nomadic) record store, John Doe Records. This exhibition focuses on Bunnybrains’ thirty plus years as a transgressive, mutable, collaborative, performative project and what it means to illustrate the life of a true muse.

Smith presents a research-based installation that will draw upon the seemingly disparate topics of the spiritual awakening of jazz great Alice B. Coltrane, also known as Swamini Turiyasangitananda, the Shaker phenomenon of religious trance painting known as Gift Drawings, and the mysterious life and work of Simon Rodia, notably the Watts Towers.

HIDDEN ASSEMBLY: Labor Through the Lens of Contemporary Art

Hidden Assembly is a group exhibition that will foreground work and workers in an era of hidden labor, curated by Yaelle Amir. The starting point of the exhibition is the recognition that under capitalism most production is rendered invisible. The labor that people perform is obscured or eliminated–an effect heightened by the expanded tech field, global outsourcing, and the rise of precarious work.

Exchange Exhibition with Vox Populi (Philadelphia)

The first in a series of exhibitions featuring artist-run spaces and projects, the Center partners with Vox Populi (Philadelphia) in an exchange exhibition in which three to five Philadelphia-based artists will be curated into a group exhibition at the Center with three to five Portland artists. The show will then travel to Philadelphia to be exhibited at Vox Populi.
